SAP NOTE 1634962 - BI4 - How to import or export a LifeCycle Manager BIAR file using command line utility

If you need to export or import a Life Cycle Manager (LCM) BIAR in BI 4 using command line utility.
Environment
l SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform (BI) 4.0
l SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform (BI) 4.1

Follow these steps:

1. Create a Properties file: Start by creating a properties file (Example c:\lcm1.properties) as below. Note that the names of properties and
lcmbiar files are not specific and can be anything.
While the below examples are provided with Windows syntax, they are applicable to unix environments as well with minor changes to file path
locations.
Here is an example of a properties file to EXPORT to an lcmbiar file:
exportLocation=C:/lcm1.lcmbiar
action=export
LCM_CMS=localhost:6400
LCM_userName=Administrator
LCM_password=password
LCM_authentication=secEnterprise
Source_CMS=localhost:6400
Source_userName=Administrator
Source_password=password
Source_authentication=secEnterprise
exportQuery1=select * from ci_Infoobjects where si_kind='Webi'

Here is an example of a properties file to IMPORT from an lcmbiar file:
importLocation=C:/lcm1.lcmbiar
action=promote
LCM_CMS=localhost:6400
LCM_userName=Administrator
LCM_password=password
LCM_authentication=secEnterprise
Destination_CMS=localhost:6400
Destination_userName=Administrator
Destination_password=password
Destination_authentication=secEnterprise
2. Run the Command line option: To run the LCM command line tool
1. Launch a command window or terminal, and navigate to location of the folder which contains the lcm_cli tool

Example: (in Windows) C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win64_x64
\scripts\lcm_cli.bat
(in UNIX) \sap_bobj\lcm_cli.sh

2. From this folder location, run the LCM Command line script lcm_cli [.bat or .sh] file as follows: lcm_cli.bat(OR .sh) -lcmproperty
Example: C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win64_x64\scripts\lcm_cli.bat -
lcmproperty c:\lcm1.properties

3. If prompted, provide an LCMBIAR Password for encryption and decryption of the lcmbiar file. [providing this password is optiona
Note: If lcm_cli.bat does not recognize the properties file, moving that file to the C:\ device can help to resolve the problem.
